"You Oughta Know" is a series that highlights favorite artists, groups, movies, and many other things... You Oughta Know!
This week in YOU OUGHTA KNOW meet Jandro, the latest artist from Carla Morrison's label Pan Dulce Productions to release an album. The first single off the album "Dónde Ir" is my pick this week for music You Oughta Know.
Jandro is no stranger to the music scene having been the engineer on Carla Morrison's stellar album "Déjenme Llorar" and also a member of her band. Jandro has a sound that is as unique as his personal style. A soulful blend of 60's rockabilly with Latino bolero sentiment, "Dónde Ir" has the melodies and feeling reminiscent of Café Tacvba and Zoé, a two punch combo that swoops in your mind and lingers in your heart.
Directed by Sergio Valdez, the video for "Dónde Ir" is simplistic in style and beautifully showcases the music and ethereal almost dreamlike qualities of the song. I can only dream of the day that Jandro teams up with Memme (Emanuel del Real) from Café Tacvba or Gustavo Santaolalla, either of those two combinations with Jandro’s voice would be magical!
Be on the lookout for Jandro, his refreshing take on Latin rock is a welcome offering that you oughta know about.
